Welcome to Dean Wood Manor

Dean Wood Manor is a grade 2 listed building, set in the most beautiful of woodland grounds. Able to care for 50 residents, the home is staffed by an experienced team of nurses and carers who have a big heart for nursing people living with dementia and other mental health conditions.

Our home has large and open corridors, giving residents room to walk and stretch their legs, as well as comfortable lounges with a variety of seating, activity spaces and dining rooms.

We encourage our residents, with their families, to personalise bedrooms with their own items and decor, to make them feel at home. Our bedrooms, although not ensuite, are well decorated and come fully fitted with all the necessary bedroom furniture.

Our courtyard garden was designed with our residents in mind. Safe and secure, it offers a very pleasant place to sit and socialise. Residents can enjoy time in the gardens, and you will often find us planting flowers, herbs and vegetables in our raised beds.

Everything we do at Dean Wood Manor is driven by the person-centred approach we take towards care.

Our approach to nursing care is based on the use of personalised care plans. Working together with those that know the resident best, we want to learn as much as we can about every person, in addition to their healthcare needs. Knowing them as individuals helps to build essential trusting and caring bonds with every resident, playing a big part in helping residents feel safe, comfortable and relaxed.

Understanding that care requirements will change, we are mindful to ensure those changing needs are identified. Our nurses work very closely with other external healthcare professionals so that the broadest range of expertise is on hand, if required.

Dean Wood Manor is also proud to offer respite care. This temporary care is ideal for those looking for extra care and support in a relaxing and homely environment. Whether its following a recent illness, or to have a 'holiday stay' while a carer has a break, Dean Wood Manor can provide peace of mind.

It takes a special team to deliver the high quality dementia nursing care Dean Wood Manor is known for. Sometimes challenging but always rewarding, the team at Dean Wood Manor, led by Jane Davies the Home Manager, see our residents as the individuals they are.

Those who live with us at Dean Wood Manor are encouraged to take part in various daily activities. Our activity coordinator is dedicated to ensuring that activities engage people's attention and interest. Being engaged in meaningful activities ensures residents feel comfortable, safe and 'at home' enough to be able to relax and have fun and enjoy the company of others, as friends.

Dovehaven have robust induction and ongoing training for all team members to ensure that they have all of the skills and knowledge they need to provide expert dementia care, with confidence. Of course, our Home Manager and our Deputy Manager are always on hand to give support and advice to team members and family members alike.

Always with a focus on our residents needs, we ensure that mealtimes can be enjoyed either in the dining room, lounge, a bedroom or ‘on the move’. Our dining room is always set for mealtimes and enjoys a friendly and social atmosphere.

We pride ourselves on our menu choices that come fresh from the kitchen at Dean Wood Manor. We ensure that all meals are served to residents in the most appropriately palatable way. Our meal choices are sure to tempt even the smallest appetite, so that we can be sure nutritional needs can be met for every resident.

The daily menu includes old favourites like pies, roasts and sticky toffee pudding and is packed with quality, seasonal and nutritious ingredients. Created by chefs, with the reassurance that dietitians oversee the menu preparation, we guarantee our meals are as nourishing as they are appealing and delicious. Our menu is varied, tempting and reflects residents preferences

We also enjoy hosting various food related events throughout the year. There is no doubt that the fun of a themed event which is reflected in the menu of the day, gives our residents the opportunity to eat some very enjoyable traditional meals but also try something a little different.

At Dean Wood Manor we are able to care for those individuals living with dementia, who require nursing care.

Following a financial assessment should it be agreed that a placement would be funded by the local authority, we can confirm that the top up amount to the fees rate would be from £66 per week.

For those residents funding their own weekly fees the fee rates are from £1462 per week.

What people say

I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for looking after my mum so well, the last home made her move ASAP as they couldn’t cope with her! She is so settled at Deanwood………..She is happy, comfortable and enjoying her life.

Deborah G (Daughter of Resident)

We are more than satisfied and happy that Mum was placed at Dean Wood Manor. Mum is currently in Woodlands Unit. Her principal carer is a role model for the rest of the team and nothing is ever too much trouble, always going above and beyond. The care is second to none, Mum is always well presented, clothed, showered, nails and hair done.

Janette B (Daughter of Resident)

Thank you so much to the team at Dean Wood Manor, especially the Woodlands Unit, for their care, love and support shown to my Grandma. Grandma entered Dean Wood during the Covid pandemic…..However, we were quick to realise that the staff are fantastic, treating our relative like their own, with complete dignity and respect.

Lucy B (Grand daughter of Resident)

I can’t express how much I appreciate the staff at Dean Wood for coming to my aid…..I would recommend Dean Wood to anyone needing a home for people suffering from dementia and or other nursing problems.
