Welcome to Dovehaven Lodge

Dovehaven Lodge is a purpose built home, well designed into three smaller 'houses' with dedicated teams providing excellent standards of care and support. Caring team members create that extra special ‘family’ atmosphere at Dovehaven Lodge, whether it be in a house offering nursing care, residential dementia care, dementia nursing care or specialist dementia care.

All houses, offer ground floor accommodation, with dining rooms always set as they should be to enjoy every mealtime. Offering easily accessible living spaces and sitting rooms, the design of the homes makes it easy to enjoy organised social events and for residents to pursue their hobbies and interests. Our landscaped gardens and patios are perfect places to spend time with friends and family.

Residents are invited to decorate their bright, well planned, comfortable, private bedrooms with small items of their own treasured belongings, so that it feels just like home.

It’s important to know that respite care is available at Dovehaven Lodge, in all of our houses, for all care needs. We are very happy to discuss a ‘holiday’ or convalescence stay, please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss your own specific requirements.

Dovehaven Lodge provide care for the following; general nursing care, residential dementia care and dementia nursing care.

All of our residents, irrespective of which of our houses they reside in, receive 24 hour specialist care from a team of qualified carers. Those who are receiving nursing care have, in addition, the attention of experienced qualified nurses.

Kind, caring and professional, whatever the care need of our residents, we make all efforts to improve the quality of their lives. We understand that every resident is unique with individual care requirements. Our approach to care is based on the use of personalised care plans. Care plans include all health and medical information but, with the help of our residents and their families, we ensure that we identify all personal preferences and requests. These bespoke care plans ensure we maximise choice, independence and the comfort of all of our residents

We offer full nursing care for people with specific requirements, includug PEG- feeding, palliative, physical disabilities as well as end of life care. Our teams work very closely with other external healthcare professionals, to ensure that the broadest range of expertise is available to support all care needs.

Not only for those residents who are living with dementia, but for all residents, we understand that care requirements will change and we are mindful to ensure those changing needs are identified.

Residents are encouraged to take part in the many daily activities offered in the home. Our activity coordinator is dedicated to ensuring that residents activities are designed to engage people's attention and interest. Enjoying meaningful activities helps residents feel comfortable, safe and 'at home' enough to be able to relax and have fun and enjoy the company of others, as friends. Dedicated activity coordinators offer 'one to one' time for those residents who prefer to spend time in their rooms or are unable to join with others in the lounge

All Dovehaven care homes use 'Oomph! On Demand' to support resident exercise, hobbies, themed days and personal interests.

The health, well-being and happiness of our ‘family’ of residents, is always our number one priority.

The team at Dovehaven Lodge, led by an experienced and qualified Home Manager and Deputy Manager, are dedicated to ensuring that the home delivers care of an excellent standard and that all of the residents wishes and needs are met.

Our team of experienced and qualified nurses are committed to ensuring residents receive the highest standard of bespoke nursing care and are treated with dignity, 24 hours a day. Working together with the care team, who are well trained and highly skilled, residents can be assured of excellent care standards.

Dovehaven have a robust induction and ongoing training for all team members to ensure that they have all of the skills and knowledge they need to provide expert nursing, dementia and personal care, with confidence.

Dedicated activity, housekeeping and kitchen team members play an essential role in working together with the whole home, across this large site, to provide the very best of service to the residents.

We have four dining rooms, one in each of our smaller houses, which come together to make up Dovehaven Lodge.

In each, our dining tables are always set for mealtimes and we ensure the friendliest of atmospheres in order that all mealtimes are happy, sociable occasions. We want our residents to feel very much ‘at home’.

The daily menu includes old favourites like pies, roasts and sticky toffee pudding and is packed with quality, seasonal and nutritious ingredients. Created by chefs, with the reassurance that dietitians oversee the menu preparation, we guarantee our meals are as nourishing as they are appealing and delicious. Our menu is varied, tempting and reflects residents preferences.

We pride ourselves on ensuring that our menu choices are available, in the most appropriately palatable way, for all needs. Our meal choices are sure to tempt even the smallest appetite, so that we can be sure nutritional needs can be met for every resident.

We also enjoy hosting various food related events throughout the year. There is no doubt that the fun of a themed event which is reflected in the menu of the day, gives our residents the opportunity to eat some very enjoyable traditional meals but also try something a little different.

Of course, there is a choice of refreshments available to residents, at all times. It is as important for our residents to drink enough fluid as well as to eat well. Homemade scones and cakes are available daily from the kitchen and residents very much enjoy having afternoon tea!

In addition to mealtimes, drinks, fruit, snacks and suppers are freely available for all to enjoy.

At Dovehaven Lodge we are able to care for those requiring dementia care, residential care or nursing care.

Following a financial assessment should it be agreed that a placement would be funded by the local authority, we can confirm that the top up amount to the fees rate would be £66 per week.

For those residents funding their own weekly fees the fee rates are from £1366 per week.

What people say

A lovely caring home where the whole team have worked so very hard to keep everyone safe during covid. They care so much for all the residents and have gone to so much effort to keep us included and reassured. Cannot sing their praises enough

Louise J (Sister of Resident)

Both my parents are now residents at Dovehaven Lodge. My mother has been at the home for fifteen months and my father for four months. They are more happy, healthy and contented now than they have been in a very long time! The atmosphere in the home is very warm and friendly, and the staff are absolutely amazing and very hard-working. I am very satisfied with the care level of care my parents receive and would happily recommend Dovehaven Lodge.

Susan M (Daughter of Residents)

My husband has now been at the home for 2 years and myself and the family couldn’t wish for him to be anywhere else, he is happy, in good health and enjoys his time with all the staff. He is well looked after. He is always well-fed, clean and tidy.
The staff are great with him and all the other residents.
