Welcome to Marsh House

Marsh House is a 'hidden gem' of a care home. Tucked away down a country lane, this home offers comfortable living with views of open countryside or our beautiful private garden.

Accommodating 33 residents, we offer residential care with support for those who are finding that their memory is becoming more of an issue in their daily lives.

Our home is characterful, having begun life as a farmhouse, but the home has been well configured and is deceptively spacious. The dining room is a large bright space, with ample additional seating for day time use as a garden room. There are 2 other small lounges, conservatory and hairdressers.

There are various styles and sizes of private bedrooms to choose from, but all we well decorated and furnished. We very much encourage our residents to personalise their own rooms with their own special items, to ensure that it feel 'just like home'.

The health, well-being and happiness of our ‘family’ of residents, is always our number one priority.

Our residents receive 24 hour care from our team of qualified carers. Kind, caring and professional, our team is committed to providing person centred care, ensuring we are responsive and show compassion to the individual needs of all. We also understand that care requirements will change and we are mindful that those changing needs are identified.

All of our residents enjoy their own care plan, tailored specifically for them. This allows us to build their care around their preferences, lifestyles and routines. Everything we do is driven by this genuinely caring person centred approach, working together with friends and family to ensure the care experience is as expected and most importantly, helping residents stay healthy and safe.

The respite care we provide is ideal for those looking for extra care and support in a relaxing and homely environment - whether its following a recent illness, or your usual care is not available. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you be considering a respite stay. Further details are available.

Those who live with us are encouraged to take part in the many daily activities that are offered in the home. Our activity coordinator is dedicated to ensuring that residents activities are designed to engage people's attention and interest. Being engaged in meaningful activities ensures residents feel comfortable, safe and 'at home' enough to be able to relax and have fun and enjoy the company of others, as friends.

All Dovehaven care homes use 'Oomph! On Demand' to support resident exercise, hobbies and personal interests.

All of the team at Marsh House are kind and caring, without exception they will always go 'the extra mile' for their residents' comfort and well-being.

Becky Binder is the Home Manager at Marsh House, she leads a team who are well trained and possesses the necessary skills and essential personal qualities, to provide the best of care. Residents can be certain of excellent care standards in all areas.

Activities are a real focus of the home and our activity coordinator is tasked with ensuring that residents are able to have fun, busy and enjoyable days, either with each other or as a group. Keeping on top of what everyone enjoys to do and what they would like to try, is pivotal to the success of the role.

Of course our Chef, has a real interest in ensuring everyone eats well and enjoys every aspect of hospitality on offer. No one goes hungry at Marsh House!

Dovehaven have robust induction and ongoing training for all team members to ensure that they have all of the skills and knowledge they need to provide expert residential care, with confidence. Of course, our Home Manager and our Deputy Manager are always on hand to give support and advice to team members and family members alike.

All of our team are trained in person-centred care and dementia awareness.

Our dining room enjoys wonderful views and access to our beautiful country garden. It is comfortable, spacious, enjoys the friendliest of atmospheres and all mealtimes are happy, sociable occasions. Our residents enjoy the best of dining experiences making them feel very much ‘at home’.

The daily menu includes old favourites like pies, roasts and sticky toffee pudding and is packed with quality, seasonal and nutritious ingredients. Created by chefs, with the reassurance that dietitians oversee the menu preparation, we guarantee our meals are as nourishing as they are appealing and delicious. Our menu is varied, tempting and reflects residents preferences. We pride ourselves on ensuring that our menu choices are available, in the most appropriately palatable way, for all needs.

Our meal choices are sure to tempt even the smallest appetite, so that we can be sure nutritional needs can be met for every resident.

We also enjoy hosting various food related events throughout the year. There is no doubt that the fun of a themed event which is reflected in the menu of the day, gives our residents the opportunity to eat some very enjoyable traditional meals but also try something a little different.

Of course, there is a choice of refreshments available to residents, at all times. It is as important for our residents to drink enough fluid as well as to eat well. Homemade scones and cakes are available daily from the kitchen and residents very much enjoy having afternoon tea!

In addition to mealtimes, drinks, fruit, snacks and suppers are freely available for all to enjoy.

We are able to care for those requiring residential care.

Following a financial assessment should it be agreed that a placement would be funded by the local authority, we can confirm that the top up amount to the fees rate would be £66 per week.

For those residents funding their own weekly fees the fee rates are from £995 per week.

What people say

Marsh House is a lovely, happy care home. The residents are very well cared for. The place is bright and cheerful, as are the staff who work there.

Deborah M (Daughter of Resident)

My mum has lived at Marsh House for the past four years and after regular visits, I knew I’d picked the best nursing home. I’d like to thank all Marsh House staff for keeping a spotless home, caring for personal hygiene, giving Mum the choice of what she eats, providing activities and keeping her spirits up. Without all the outstanding care she’s been given the last 12 months would have been intolerable. To quote Mum this morning ‘if I can’t live at home I’m in the best place I can be’ says it all.

Jenny M (Daughter of Resident)

We chose Marsh House for its rural location, which we hoped would remind her of her previous home. The staff got to know her very quickly and settled her in well, and physically she is now much healthier and more mobile than before.

Joy H (Daughter of Resident)

My mother and father-in-law are both residents at Marsh House. The care they receive goes above and beyond.

Neil M (Son of Resident)

Mum has resided in Marsh House for just over two and a half years and is very happy there. As a family, we are very grateful for the exceptional care and support Mum has been given. The care and support is above and beyond the expectation we had of any care home, as the staff are very compassionate and considerate to Mum’s individual needs.
