Welcome to Millbrook House

Millbrook House is a purpose built nursing home in Southport, that cares for up to 50 residents living with dementia who have nursing needs. We provide professional, kind care which ensures that residents feel reassured, comfortable and well cared for.

One of the outstanding features of our home is the resident 'dining experience'. Following all best practice for hydration and nutrition for those living with dementia, residents enjoy every meal time at a standard, 'second to none'. The menu, table setting, service and refreshments support every resident to eat and drink well, at their leisure.

The home boasts large lounges and dining room, as well as a quiet 'Namaste' room. Namaste dementia care is specifically for those experiencing the later stages of dementia. This model of dementia care is very much seen as best practice within the care sector.

Those who live with us are encouraged to take part in the many daily activities. Our talented activity coordinator is dedicated to ensuring that activities are active, support residents wellbeing, engage people's attention and interest. Being engaged in meaningful activities ensures residents feel comfortable, safe and 'at home' enough to be able to relax and have fun and enjoy the company of others.

Other amenities include the well-maintained, dementia friendly courtyard garden, and our unique hairdressing salon. Bedrooms are available over two floors, accessible via a lift, and we very much encourage our residents to personalise their own bedrooms with their own special items, to ensure that it feel 'just like home'.

At Millbrook House, we strongly encourage friends and family to visit at any time during the week. Resident's loved ones are also invited to join the Millbrook House online community page, where they can stay up to date with events, news and activities in the home 24/7.

The health, well-being and happiness of our residents, is always our number one priority.

At Millbrook we are proud to say that the dementia care we provide is truly ‘person-centred’. Everything we do is driven by this genuinely caring person centred approach, working together with friends and family to ensure the care experience is as expected and most importantly, helping residents stay healthy and safe.

Person centred care begins with a comprehensive assessment prior to a resident moving to us for care. The information we gather is recorded within care plans, tailored specifically to individual resident’s preferences, lifestyles and routines, as well as their medical and health information. We also understand that care requirements may well change, and we are mindful to ensure those changing needs are identified.

Millbrook use a ‘state of the art’ digital care planning system which is quick and easy for all team members to use and frees up time even more time to spend time with residents.

Millbrook has introduced 'Namaste' dementia care to the home for those experiencing the later stages of dementia. This model of dementia care is very much seen as current best practice within the care sector. The Home Manager and her team are passionate about best practice in dementia care and ensuring Millbrook implements all possible evidence based innovations.

Our talented activity-coordinator ensures our residents enjoy varied, interesting and engaging things to do. Uniquely at Millbrook, there are additional wellbeing therapies available to enjoy, such as Indian head massage and yoga which all come together to provide a range of active, fun and individualised daily activities dependent on resident choice. In addition, seasonal celebrations and special events such as birthdays are always celebrated.

All Dovehaven care homes use 'Oomph! On Demand' to support resident exercise, hobbies, themed days and personal interests.

The respite care we provide is ideal for those looking for extra care and support in a relaxing and homely environment - whether its following a recent illness, or to have a 'holiday stay' while a carer has a break. Relaxation, exercise, yoga, meditation, music and art are just some of the ways our residents are able to enjoy their days

Our dining room is certainly spacious! With our dining tables always set as you would expect at a family table, our residents enjoy the best of dining experiences making them feel very much ‘at home’ in the friendliest of atmospheres.

All of our mealtimes are happy, sociable occasions, with a table service ‘second to none’ ensuring mealtimes and their meals are exactly as any individual resident wishes them to be!

The daily menu includes old favourites like pies, roasts and sticky toffee pudding and is packed with quality, seasonal and nutritious ingredients. Created by chefs, with the reassurance that dietitians oversee the menu preparation, we guarantee our meals are as nourishing as they are appealing and delicious. Our menu is varied, tempting and reflects residents preferences. We pride ourselves on ensuring that our menu choices are available, in the most appropriately palatable way, for all needs.

Our meal choices are sure to tempt even the smallest appetite, so that we can be sure nutritional needs can be met for every resident.

We also enjoy hosting various food related events throughout the year. There is no doubt that the fun of a themed event which is reflected in the menu of the day, gives our residents the opportunity to eat some very enjoyable traditional meals but also try something a little different.

Of course, there is a choice of refreshments available to residents, at all times, as it is important for our residents to drink enough, as well as to eat well.

Homemade scones and cakes are available daily from the kitchen and residents very much enjoy having afternoon tea!

In addition to mealtimes, drinks, fruit, snacks and suppers are freely available for all to enjoy.

At Millbrook we are able to care for those requiring dementia nursing care.

Following a financial assessment should it be agreed that a placement would be funded by the local authority, we can confirm that the top up amount to the fees rate would be from £83 per week.

For those residents funding their own weekly fees the fee rates are from £1467 per week.

What people say

Since mum has been at Millbrook, our needs as a family have always been considered. The manager and her staff are equally as concerned about our wellbeing as they are about mums, and always make sure we know they are there for us as a family as well as mum.
Millbrook feels to me like one huge extended family and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them

Carol S (Daughter of Resident)

In my experience as a sister of a resident of Millbrook House, I have found it to be a home of very high standards. It is very clean and the food is good and plentiful, best of all are the staff who do a great job. They are kind and respectful, at the same time very efficient while seeing to the resident’s needs I would not hesitate in recommending this home

D T (Sister of Resident)

I cannot convey how very impressed l am with the standards and kindness of everyone who works at Millbrook especially dealing with a very demanding and complex patient.

Mary R (Friend of Resident)

My father has quite advanced vascular dementia, and he is unable to carry out any self-care at all, however, the staff at Millbrook care for him wonderfully. To try to keep dementia patient stimulated is difficult but the staff at the home do their best the interact with the patients, and they also provide entertainment in the form of visiting singers, dance parties and for those who have enough mobility, trips out on a mini-coach. It was awful for us as a family to have my Dad placed in a home, but as this was unavoidable time, we feel he is in an excellent environment where he is cared for by smiling, dedicated staff, 24-hours a day.

Ken K (Son of Resident)

Under an emergency placement, my husband was placed in Millbrook House in June 2018. This was an extremely traumatic time for the whole family, however, during that time the management and staff have been wonderfully supportive of both myself and my husband, who is in their care. During the Covid-19 pandemic, they have worked above and beyond the call of duty and for this, we are extremely grateful.

Phyllis K (Wife of Resident)
