Welcome to Paradise House

At Paradise House, the health, well-being and happiness of our ‘family’ of residents, is always our number one priority.

Providing residential care for 39 people living with dementia, Paradise House offers both a comfortable 'forever home' and also welcomes those in need of a shorter respite stay. Should you be looking for a 'holiday' respite stay, do not hesitate to contact the home for current availability and for further details.

Our purpose-built care home, over two floors, has well decorated bedrooms, large spacious and bright lounge and dining rooms on both floors, a conservatory and a garden. Many rooms have ensuite facilities but, for those without, there are well appointed accessible bathrooms and shower rooms on each floor.

We very much encourage our residents to personalise their own bedrooms with their own special items, to ensure that it feels 'just like home'.

Friends and family are welcome to visit at any time. We have a specially constructed 'visitor pod' so that we are able to facilitate safe family visiting, whatever current guidelines might be.

Our team is committed to providing person centred residential, dementia care for our residents, ensuring we are responsive and show compassion to the individual needs of all. We also understand that care requirements will change and we are mindful to ensure those changing needs are identified.

All of our residents have their own care plan, tailored specifically for them. This allows us to build their care around their preferences, lifestyles and routines. Everything we do is driven by this genuinely caring person centred approach, working together with friends and family to ensure the care experience is as expected and most importantly, helping residents stay healthy and safe.

The respite care we provide is ideal for those looking for extra care and support in a relaxing and homely environment - whether it's following a recent illness or in need of time away from their own home.

Everyone is encouraged to take part in the many daily activities offered in the home. Our Activity Co-ordinator designs a programme of events to engage people's attention and interest. Having meaningful activities ensures residents feel comfortable, safe and 'at home'. Helping our residents to relax, laugh, have fun and enjoy the company of others, just as 'family'.

All Dovehaven care homes use 'Oomph! On Demand' to support resident exercise, hobbies, themed days and personal interests.

Ren Kataria is the Home Manager at Paradise House and she leads our team who support and provide the best of residential care for all residents living with dementia .

Our well trained care team provide professional, but friendly personal care which is tailor made to reflect a residents care needs and choices.

All staff are trained in dementia awareness and person-centred care and all of our care team possesses the necessary skills and qualities to ensure that the delivery of care for those living with dementia, is kind and appropriate for them.

Dovehaven have a robust induction and ongoing training for all team members to ensure that they have all of the skills and knowledge they need to provide expert dementia care, with confidence. Of course, our Home Manager and our Deputy Manager are always on hand to give support and advice to team members and family members alike.

The team at Paradise House are dedicated to ensuring that the home is a kind and safe place for residents to live and that all of the residents needs are met.

Our dining rooms are comfortable, spacious and enjoy the friendliest of atmospheres. All mealtimes are happy, sociable occasions. With our dining tables always set, our residents enjoy the best of dining experiences making them feel very much ‘at home’.

The daily menu includes old favourites like pies, roasts and sticky toffee pudding and is packed with quality, seasonal and nutritious ingredients. Created by chefs, with the reassurance that dietitians oversee the menu preparation, we guarantee our meals are as nourishing as they are appealing and delicious. Our menu is varied, tempting and always reflects residents preferences.

We pride ourselves on ensuring that our menu choices are available, in the most appropriately palatable way, for all needs, sure to tempt even the smallest appetite, so that we can be sure nutritional needs can be met for every resident.

We also enjoy hosting various food related events throughout the year. There is no doubt that the fun of a themed event, which is reflected in the menu of the day, gives our residents the opportunity to eat some very enjoyable traditional meals but, also try something a little different.

Of course, there is a choice of refreshments available to residents, at all times. It is as important for our residents to drink enough fluid as well as to eat well.

Homemade scones and cakes are available daily from the kitchen and residents very much enjoy having afternoon tea!

In addition to mealtimes, drinks, fruit, snacks and suppers are freely available for all to enjoy.

A big thank you to all the staff at Paradise House, you are all doing a fabulous job. Mum has made a couple of special connections with staff and although I cannot name them, one she calls ‘a lovely little girl and the other is a lovely guy that she refers too as ‘Our’. There are not enough words to say how fabulous this care home is, they are like my extended family. My father since day one has never asked about leaving or going home. On our initial visit to see what the home was like, we arrived without appointment and were shown around the whole building immediately with a member of staff. The residents were mostly in the lounge areas and just finishing lunch. The staff were engaged with helping some residents eat or clearing away. Conversation between staff and residents was continuous. Staff were happy to answer a multitude of questions and were very reassuring. We have visited our relative several times and she was settling in and eating well. The family have been consulted over medical and personal care. We are very happy with Paradise House staff, care, and compassion.
