Dovehaven welcomes Callands Care Home into the group

They say all good things come in threes, and that is certainly the case for us! We are thrilled to announce our latest acquisition of Callands Care Home into the Dovehaven family of Care Homes. This is actually our third new home in just the last two months – we’re growing fast!

Callands Care Home in Warrington boasts 120 beds and is the biggest care home in the Dovehaven group

Callands will become our biggest care home yet, boasting 120 beds. While the home currently has a history of an ‘Inadequate’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), we’re not worried We have a fantastic track record of taking wonderful care of our residents, and we’re fully committed to bringing Callands up to the same high standards we have in all our homes.

As the home is so large, the facility and teams are able to care for a wide variety of different and unique care needs. As well as residential, dementia and nursing care, the home is also able to care for more complex health care needs and also mental health conditions that may be affecting individuals ability to live independently.

In recent years, the Dovehaven team have been able to turn around other homes who were not performing to their full potential. Dovehaven Lodge in Ingol, Preston which previously held the title for the largest home in the Dovehaven group, was also purchased as CQC ‘Inadequate’. In just a few short years under the guidance of the Dovehaven team, the home was back on its feet and recieved a ‘Good’ rating from the CQC in May 2023.

This latest addition marks Dovehaven’s third acquisition in the last two months, solidifying our commitment to growth and exceptional care in the north west. We have previously purchased Avonleigh Gardens Care Home in Oldham little over one month ago. Soon after, Dovehaven completed on their purchase of Ashton View nursing home in Wigan, also acquiring this home from HC-One.

We’re grateful to the previous owners HC-One for their cooperation and for letting us welcome their dedicated team into the Dovehaven family. These are experienced carers who are passionate about looking after people, and we can’t wait to give them all the support and resources they deserve to really shine.

For over 40 years, Dovehaven has been all about providing exceptional person-centred care and making sure our residents have fulfilling lives. We’re confident that with our investment in Callands, from the facilities to the colleague training and resident programs, we can make Callands a truly thriving care home once again.

Our CEO, Jenny Davies, says it all: “We are delighted to welcome Callands Care Home to the Dovehaven family. While we recognise the work needed to improve the home’s CQC rating, we are confident in our ability to deliver the transformative changes Callands deserves. We are committed to investing in the care facility, employee training, and resident well-being programmes to ensure Callands thrives once again. We are excited to embark on this journey with the dedicated Callands team and residents, and we look forward to building a bright future together.”

This is a big step for Dovehaven, and it shows how committed we are to being the absolute best in elderly care across the northwest. We’re passionate about what we do, and we can’t wait to make a positive difference in the lives of the residents at Callands.

If you’re a fan of renovation and DIY, we recommend following us over on our social media channels. There, we will be sharing the latest news about Callands’ journey back to quality, and documenting all the exciting changes we will be making to the home as we restore the home back to its former glory.
