Double milestone celebrations at Avonleigh Gardens Care Home in Oldham

Avonleigh Gardens Care Home in Oldham has enjoyed double celebrations, as two remarkable residents marked incredible milestone birthdays just days apart.

Avonleigh Gardens, which provides high-quality residential and dementia care in Oldham, was delighted to celebrate Anne’s 101st birthday on 28th July, followed by Margaret’s 103rd birthday on 1st August.

Anne enjoyed a day of celebrations surrounded by residents, relatives and the Avonleigh Gardens care team. The home marked the occasion with a traditional cream tea and a homemade birthday cake, making sure her day was a special one.

Just a few days later, the home came together once again to celebrate Margaret’s 103rd birthday. Margaret has lived an extraordinary life and proudly served in the Women’s Royal Naval Service after joining at the age of 18. Her years of service and dedication were recognised as family, friends and colleagues gathered to celebrate her remarkable milestone.

The celebrations come shortly after Avonleigh Gardens was awarded Veteran Friendly Framework accreditation. The home was also named Team of the Year at the Dovehaven CARES Awards 2026, recognising the team’s dedication to delivering outstanding care, creating meaningful experiences for residents and supporting families every step of their journey.

We are so grateful for every moment we get to share with you and hope your day is as special as you are.”
