Dovehaven is proud to share that Church View Care Home in Liverpool has been rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission following its inspection in March 2026, the first Outstanding rating in Dovehaven’s history and a significant milestone for our homes across the North West.
Church View, located in Liverpool, provides nursing care and support for older people, including those living with dementia and complex needs. Following its inspection in March 2026, the CQC recognised the home for delivering safe, personalised and compassionate care, supported by strong, inclusive leadership and a culture where people feel respected, supported and valued.
Cheryl Vickerstaffe, Home Manager at Church View said: 'Being rated Outstanding is an incredible achievement, and it truly reflects the compassion, hard work and dedication that every single member of our team brings each day. We consistently go above and beyond for the people we care for, and this recognition means so much to all of us. Managing Church View is honestly the most rewarding role I’ve ever had, every day reminds me why I love what I do. Church View isn’t just a workplace, it’s one big family. We support one another, celebrate together, and keep our residents at the heart of everything we do. I feel incredibly grateful and honoured to be part of such a special team.'
Earlier this week, residents, families and employees came together at Church View to celebrate this incredible achievement. The home was filled with music, laughter and shared pride, as everyone reflected on what makes Church View so special, not just the rating itself, but the people and relationships behind it. Video highlights from the day will be shared across Dovehaven’s channels in the coming days.
The inspection found that Church View delivers care that makes a clear, positive difference to people’s lives. The report highlighted improved emotional wellbeing, reduced distress, meaningful daily choices, and a strong sense of identity and belonging. It also praised the team’s responsiveness, noting that staff acted quickly when people’s needs changed and worked closely with families and health professionals to support the best possible outcomes.
We were especially proud to see the report recognise the kindness, dignity and respect shown every day at Church View. Residents and relatives described a warm, calm and family-like atmosphere, where people feel safe, valued and genuinely cared for, something that sits at the heart of how we deliver care at Dovehaven.
The report also reflects the strength of our values-led leadership and culture, where learning, innovation and partnership working are part of everyday practice. This approach helps us to continuously improve and to support people to live meaningful, independent and fulfilling lives.
Speaking about the result, Jenny Davies, CEO said:
‘I couldn’t be prouder of our team at Church View. To see them achieve an Outstanding rating (the first in Dovehaven’s history) is incredibly special, and quite honestly, very emotional. This has been built on the compassion, dedication and strength of the people who work there every single day. What means the most to me is the difference they make to residents and families, the way they care, support and truly show up for people. That’s what this recognition is really about. I feel so proud to have celebrated this moment alongside residents, families and our team this week.’
Anna Quilliam, Q&C Director said:
‘This report really captures what matters most to us, people being treated with dignity, kindness and respect, every single day. At Church View, that isn’t something we switch on, it’s part of who the team are. There is a real commitment here to getting things right for residents, to continuously improving, and to creating a home where people feel safe, valued and truly cared for. I’m incredibly proud of the standards achieved, but even more proud of the people behind them.’
Church View’s Outstanding rating reflects what we strive for across all Dovehaven care homes in Liverpool and the wider North West - delivering high-quality, compassionate care where people feel truly at home. It is a proud moment for all of us and one we will continue building on.
