Last week Dovehaven had their first ever Employee of the Year Awards, and it’s safe to say it was a massive success! Five of our winners each received an award based on our new company values (Compassion in every way, Accountability, Respect Diversity, Excellence Unleashed and Strength in Unity), we also had two other awards for the Employee of the Year Award and a Special Recognition Award.

CEO Jenny Davies said

We started our employee of the month recognition programme about 2 years ago and have built it up over that time. For me, Employee of the month and this celebration event is just a small gesture to recognise the amazing work that our colleagues do on a daily basis and for everybody in our business to hear the wonderful examples of outstanding person centred care that our colleagues provide; it is important for our teams to know how important they are to us and that we genuinely appreciate what they do for our residents on a daily basis.

Now onto our winners!

  1. The award for Compassion in every way has been awarded to Amy Lyn. She truly lives and breathes compassion in every way. Amy heard another member of staff was going through a really rough time, after hearing this she donated her annual leave to their colleague so they could be with their family.
  2. Our winner for Accountability is Danielle Coulthard. She started working here 6 years ago as a Senior Carer and has since become the Deputy Manager of one of our homes. They are an outstanding example of hard work, attention and detail and accountability, always being in the right place at the right time and are cracking on with the job at hand. She will always put the residents, their colleagues and the families above anything, always taking responsibility to do what it is right.
  3. Jack Reynolds has received the award for Respect Diversity. Jack is known for his dry sense of humour, but most importantly for his dedication to the residents. He is a member of our support services and is a champion of diversity, who ensures that every single resident’s needs are catered for, no matter their care needs, their cultural background, or dietary preferences.
  4. Our winner for Excellence Unleashed is Suzanne Eaglestone. She always goes above and beyond to ensure that the home looks amazing and is clean and safe for our residents and our colleagues. She even changes rooms around after a resident is no longer with us, to make the transition to a new resident smoother for our colleagues.
  5. The award for Strength in Unity has been awarded to Team Argyle Park. During an extremely difficult time for our colleagues at Marsh House, this team went above and beyond in a selfless act of generosity, compassion and truly did show that we are united as one Dovehaven Team.
  6. Now for the Employee of the Year award. This person is someone who lives and breathes all 5 of our values. Always going above and beyond for our residents, their families, and our colleagues. Recently, after finishing their shift they found out that a night shift needed to be covered so immediately came back to work. That night a lady took poorly and required hospital. After being unable to contact NOK, this individual sat with her all night as they didn’t want her to be alone. Sadly this lady passed away, but the family were unbelievably grateful for the extra effort this individual went to. The person who has received this award is Justus Nautoro.
  7. Our Special Recognition award has been awarded to Jan Hunstone. Jan had been nominated various times throughout the year by her home managers and others members of the wider team. Everyone knows Jan. Her commitment to this company is outstanding and her long service is highly recognised.
