Welcome to Garden Lodge
Garden Lodge is a friendly, happy place where residents live in a home where kindness and compassion combine, to offer the very best of residential care. There are always people to chat to and something to join in with, here to support 48 people living with dementia, this is a home where the feeling of ‘family’ is very strong.
Our home is purpose built for care, with well decorated single bedrooms. We very much encourage our residents, with their families, to personalise their own rooms, in whatever way they wish, to ensure that it feels 'just like home'.
The comfortable lounges, dining rooms and bedrooms all benefit from being on the ground floor and totally accessible, with easy access to our safe and secure courtyard gardens. Our residents also enjoy the use of a hairdressing salon and access to a smoking room, should it be required.
Situated in the quiet, residential area of Netherley, Liverpool, we are close to a local supermarket, post office and large park. There is also the convenience of a direct bus route going to the centre of Liverpool.
Garden Lodge is a very popular home locally. Most people who require our care come and make their home with us but, some come to enjoy a shorter respite stay. Please do not hesitate to contact us, should you be searching for a respite care, we will be very happy to help. However long your stay at Garden Lodge, the welcome is always sure to be warm.
Friends and family are welcome to visit at any time. We have a specially constructed 'visitor pod' so that we are able to facilitate safe family visiting, whatever the current guidelines may be.
It is worth noting that the home has a large car park for visitors.
The health, well-being and happiness of our ‘family’ of residents, is always our number one priority.
Our residents receive 24 hour specialist memory care from a team of passionate and qualified carers. Kind, caring and professional, we make all efforts to improve the quality of life for our residents by focussing on their individuality, personal choices and care needs.
All of our residents have their own individualised care plan, tailored specifically for them. This allows us to build their care around their preferences, lifestyles and routines. Everything we do is driven by this genuinely caring person centred approach, working together with friends and family to ensure the care experience is as expected and most importantly, helping residents stay healthy and safe.
We also understand that care requirements will change and we are mindful to ensure those changing needs are identified. We can assist both residents and families through such changes, working closely with both to ensure that all care needs are met.
The respite care we provide is ideal for those looking for extra care and support in a relaxing and homely environment - whether it's following a recent illness, or your usual care is not available. Please contact us for further details, should you be considering a respite stay.
Garden Lodge residents enjoy an entertainment programme full of fun and stimulating activities. Either participating in group activities, being supported to continue their own hobbies or to take up new things, our enthusiastic and resourceful activity coordinator is available to ensure you can use your time, as you wish to.
The daily life of the home is often centred around meaningful and fun activities. Whether it be a themed mealtime, an afternoon event which involves the inclusion of family and friends, or a celebration of a birthday for staff or residents, Garden Lodge ensure everyone is included.
All Dovehaven care homes use 'Oomph! On Demand' to support resident exercise, hobbies and personal interests.
Catherine Ponzini is the Home Manager and she has been a member of the team at Garden Lodge for many years. She understands that providing exceptional care requires an exceptional team.
At Garden Lodge team members understand residents individual needs and choices, catering for them in every way possible. Focused on all care being 'person centred', even the smallest request for residents to do as they wish to do, is put into action. Whether its cooking cakes in our kitchen or decorating their own bedroom, residents are able to live in their home, as they wish, with total support.
Of course, our team of highly experienced and long serving Garden Lodge care staff are committed to ensuring residents receive the highest standards of care. Residents are treated with dignity, respect and kindness at all times.
Dovehaven have a robust induction and ongoing training for all team members to ensure that they have all of the skills and knowledge they need to provide expert dementia care, with confidence. Of course, our Home Manager and our Deputy Manager are always on hand to give support and advice to team members and family members alike.
All staff are trained in dementia awareness and person-centred care. Each member of our care team possesses the necessary skills and qualities to ensure that the delivery of care and services for those living with dementia is 'first-class'. The ability to make a resident feel at ease, is an essential skill which all of our care team possess.
Our dining rooms are busy, friendly places and all mealtimes are happy, sociable occasions. Our residents feel very comfortable and ‘at home’ in this family like atmosphere.
The daily menu includes old favourites like pies, roasts and sticky toffee pudding and is packed with quality, seasonal and nutritious ingredients. Created by chefs, with the reassurance that dietitians oversee the menu preparation, we guarantee our meals are as nourishing as they are appealing and delicious. Our menu is varied, tempting and reflects residents preferences.
We pride ourselves on ensuring that our menu choices are available, in the most appropriately palatable way, for all needs. Our meal choices are sure to tempt even the smallest appetite, so that we can be sure nutritional needs can be met for every resident.
We also enjoy hosting various food related events throughout the year. There is no doubt that the fun of a themed event which is reflected in the menu of the day, gives our residents the opportunity to eat some very enjoyable traditional meals but also try something a little different.
Of course, there is a choice of refreshments available to residents, at all times. It is as important for our residents to drink enough fluid as well as to eat well.
Homemade scones and cakes are available daily from the kitchen and residents very much enjoy having afternoon tea!
In addition to mealtimes, drinks, fruit, snacks and suppers are freely available for all to enjoy.

What people say
Our personal experience after being in 3 other homes stands out a country mile. This is all down to the individual staff each and every one I’ve met shows genuine empathy and care for the residents. You can’t train people to be like them it comes from within. They are lovely, caring and down to earth which makes them stand out from all the rest of the homes we have experienced over the years.
This care home is just amazing. My mum has been in care for 3 years and I love the fact the same staff are there and there is continuity of care. The staff are so caring and helpful not just to my mum but have supported our family loads too when times have been tough. The home is immaculate and the residents are all well cared for. Would definitely recommend this. Thank you to all the staff.
My mum is a resident. To say the staff are angels is an understatement. They are remarkable, caring, and extremely professional. My mum could never get better care and stimulation. If my mum needs anything at all it’s there for her. I can honestly say it is a home from home. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you all so much.
The Manager runs a lovely home that has continuity of staff and every picture I have seen of my dad he is smiling or laughing. All the staff deserve a medal and I can’t thank them enough for their care.
My Mum moved into Garden Lodge in November 2018. I had no idea what to expect, this being my first experience of a Care Home. From day one, myself and my family felt reassured. They feel like family. Thank you to the team, you are earth’s angels.
