Welcome to Manchester House

Manchester House is one of Southport's finest Victorian residences, which overlooks Hesketh Park. Easily located in Southport, the home is close to the town centre and promenade.

The home offers a wide range of specialist nursing care, beyond which a general nursing home might provide. Manchester House has provided the local community with bespoke nursing care for many years, with a reputation of providing excellent care for those who have complex care needs.

Our home certainly has charm and character, the hallway, lounges and dining rooms are large with high ceilings ensuring that along with the beautiful decor, the home is a very pleasant place to be.

The benefit of a large extension at the rear of the home ensures that there are ample ground floor bedrooms plus, reception rooms, dining rooms and lounges for residents to spend their time away from their own private bedrooms, should they wish. There are also accessible garden and courtyard garden areas for all to enjoy.

Bedrooms are very well appointed and furnished, varying in size to accommodate necessary care equipment and mobility aids, we very much encourage our residents to personalise their own bedrooms to ensure that it feel 'just like home'.

Manchester House provides 24 hour bespoke nursing care, delivering professional and compassionate care to residents with significant and complex health conditions.

We understand that every resident is unique with individual care requirements. Care plans are written, and not only include the in depth medical and health information, but with the help of our residents and their families we ensure that all personal preferences, choices and requests are included, to maximise the choice, independence and the comfort of our residents

Our nurses work very closely with other external healthcare professionals, to ensure that the broadest range of expertise is available to support all nursing care needs. We can offer nursing care for people with specific requirements, includug PEG- feeding, palliative, physical disabilities, bariatric care, mental health conditions as well as end of life care and bespoke care for younger age groups.

The respite care we provide is ideal for those requiring nursing care, following discharge from hospital or who might alternatively receive nursing care in their own home, when the care and attention of a qualified nurse is required. We are very happy to discuss your requirements for a respite stay, please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss your nursing needs.

Residents choose how they wish to spend their days and are encouraged to take part in the many daily activities that are offered in the home. Our activity coordinator is dedicated to ensuring that residents activities are designed to engage people's attention and interest. Being engaged in meaningful activities ensures residents feel comfortable, safe and 'at home' enough to be able to relax and have fun and enjoy the company of others, as friends.

All Dovehaven care homes use 'Oomph! On Demand' to support resident exercise, hobbies and personal interests.

Themed days and lunches are very popular with residents and the home always recognises national celebrations and events.

Kylie Radcliffe is the Home Manager at Manchester House, she leads the team in providing professional, highly skilled care, which is tailor made to reflect a residents care needs and choices.

Our team of experienced and qualified nurses are committed to ensuring residents receive the highest standard of bespoke nursing care and are treated with dignity, 24 hours a day. Working together with the care team, who possesses the necessary skills in order that residents can be assured of excellent care standards.

Dovehaven have a robust induction and ongoing training for all team members to ensure that they have all of the skills and knowledge they need to provide expert nursing care, with confidence. Of course, our Home Manager and our Deputy Manager are always on hand to give support and advice to team members.

Kind, caring and professional, all efforts are made to improve the quality of life for our residents, by focussing on their individuality, personal choices and strengths. We also work closely with families and loved ones, involving them whenever possible.

Located on the ground floor, our dining room is central in the home. It’s spacious, enjoys the friendliest of atmospheres and all mealtimes are happy, sociable occasions. Always ensuring that there is the opportunity to be seated where you are happiest, you can enjoy eating on a table with others so that you can enjoy the chatter and a sociable mealtime, or you can choose to sit in a quieter corner and watch the world go by.

The daily menu includes old favourites like pies, roasts and sticky toffee pudding and is packed with quality, seasonal and nutritious ingredients. Created by chefs, with the reassurance that dietitians oversee the menu preparation, we guarantee our meals are as nourishing as they are appealing and delicious. Our menu is varied, tempting and reflects residents preferences. We pride ourselves on ensuring that our menu choices are available, in the most appropriately palatable way, for all needs. Our meal choices are sure to tempt even the smallest appetite, so that we can be sure nutritional needs can be met for every resident.

We also enjoy hosting various food related events throughout the year. There is no doubt that the fun of a themed event which is reflected in the menu of the day, gives our residents the opportunity to eat some very enjoyable traditional meals but also try something a little different.

Of course, there is a choice of refreshments available to residents, at all times. It is as important for our residents to drink enough fluid as well as to eat well.

Homemade scones and cakes are available daily from the kitchen and residents very much enjoy having afternoon tea!

In addition to mealtimes, drinks, fruit, snacks and suppers are freely available for all to enjoy.

At Manchester House we are able to care for those requiring specialist residential care or nursing care.

Following a financial assessment should it be agreed that a placement would be funded by the local authority, we can confirm that the top up amount to the fees rate would be from £66 per week.

For those residents funding their own weekly fees the fee rates are from £1389 per week for nursing and residential care.
